Frequently asked questions

What are the benefits of an apprenticeship at the MERKUR GROUP?

As an internationally positioned family-run corporate group, we run apprenticeships to meet our own staffing needs. For you, this means: excellent chances of being taken on and optimum development opportunities – from IT training courses in Word, Excel and PowerPoint in our own training centre at Schloss Benkhausen to English courses and business etiquette seminars. Seminars and driver safety training. In addition, you also have the possibility to be deployed for several weeks to one or more of our other business locations – either in Germany or internationally. And thanks to our flexitime system, reconciling the 39-hour week including study release times with your leisure time is not a problem.

How is the apprenticeship structured?

You’ll find a detailed description of your tasks in the respective job advertisement. As a general rule, each training course includes a theoretical and a practical part. You acquire the practical know-how at your place of work, while the theory is taught at vocational school – either two days a week or on block release, depending on the chosen apprenticeship.

How do I apply?

The best way is to apply online using the APPLY DIRECTLY button in the JOB VACANCIES section. This is more environmentally friendly and also cheaper for you – and guarantees that your application lands on the right desk.

What application documents are required?

In order for us to be able to make a first impression of you, we want you to send a current CV in table format, a brief cover letter as well as your two most recent school reports. If we are then still missing something, we will contact you.

What are the hallmarks of a good CV?

Your CV should of course be error-free, well-structured and clearly formulated. It must also contain the following information:

  • Your full contact details (name, address, telephone number and an e-mail address)
  • Details of your education to date
  • Work placements that you have completed (also one-day work placements)
  • Your hobbies

What format should my application documents be in?

To ensure that your documents are displayed properly in our application management system, please send them in PDF format only (max. 25 MB).

Are the advertisements for the apprenticeship places always up to date?

Yes, we always keep our apprenticeship homepage as well as our Careers page fully up to date. As long as the apprenticeship place is online, feel free to submit your application.

Can I make multiple applications?

If you think that your skills and knowledge match several of our apprenticeship places, you are welcome to submit multiple applications. The important thing is that you apply separately for each apprenticeship place using the online form.

Are there application deadlines that I must observe?

No, there are no application deadlines attached to our apprenticeship places. If the apprenticeship place is online, feel free to submit your application.

What happens after I have submitted my application?

Once we receive your application, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. If we are impressed by your application and your educational performance, we invite you to take an online suitability test. If you pass the test, exciting group exercises and tasks await you in the Assessment Centre where you can prove your organisational talent. At the same time, we give you the opportunity to introduce yourself in a short self-presentation. Finally, we conduct a personal interview with you in which we want to find out more about you and your expectations regarding your apprenticeship at the MERKUR GROUP.

What can I do if I don’t hear anything back for a long time?

If the processing of your application unexpectedly takes longer, you will receive a notification. You can, of course, inquire from us about the current status of your application at any time.

Can I withdraw my application? What would then happen with my data?

You can, of course, withdraw your application at any time – a simple phone call or brief e-mail will suffice. Your personal data will then be deleted in compliance with the law.
