Sports betting business segment Merkur Sportwetten GmbH as a subsidiary of the Gauselmann Group consolidates the entire national and international sports betting business of the group in the sports betting business segment. This comprises the betting agent Cashpoint based in Malta as well as the sales organisations in the core markets Germany (under the XTiP brand), Austria and Denmark (under the Cashpoint brand) and Belgium (under the Betcenter brand).

The product portfolio of the betting agent Cashpoint includes sophisticated integrated solutions – land-based and online – all tailor-made to adapt to the country-specific laws and regulations in the respective target markets. The land-based offering comprises company-owned betting agencies, as well as a franchise system for betting shops, points of sale and shop-in-shop systems. Bets can also be placed online and mobile via an app. A personalised customer card that can be used on all platforms allows customers to access all sports betting content and services simply and conveniently.

All offerings of the sports betting brands Cashpoint, XTiP and Betcenter are based on the Cashpoint Multichannel product platform and, thanks to certification in accordance with DIN ISO 27001, meet the highest quality and security standards.

The Cashpoint brand has firmly established itself as the leading private sports betting provider in both the Austrian and Danish markets. In addition, through its 50 percent stake in the Belgian provider Betcenter, Merkur Sportwetten also has a strong position in Belgium with potential for expansion.

The German sports betting market is also growing steadily; the aim of the Gauselmann Group is therefore to become established over the medium-term as a leading provider in the national market with its XTiP brand. However, as the licensing procedure for sports betting in Germany has still not been completed, there is a lack of planning security and failure to take consistent action against providers who are not willing to accept regulation. Since 2012, the Gauselmann Group has had a valid sports betting licence for Schleswig-Holstein and is permitted to offer sports bets in betting shops, at betting terminals and on the Internet. In the other federal states the sports betting offering of XTiP is tolerated. Together with other providers willing to accept regulation, the Gauselmann Group is continuing to work to obtain a stable and sustainable legal framework for the entire German sports betting market as soon as possible.

From 2018, XTiP has been working together with footballer Lukas Podolski as brand ambassador. The original and eye-catching advertising campaigns are shown on all relevant TV, print and online channels throughout Germany.

More than 750 employees currently work at the Maltese Cashpoint headquarters, the national sales offices in Vienna, Frankfurt and Copenhagen and the company-operated branches.
