The Gauselmann Group currently operates successfully in four countries: in Austria and Denmark under the Cashpoint brand and in Germany and the UK under the XTiP brand.
Cashpoint has established a reputation Germany-wide as a sports betting specialist through operation and sales of the Merkur Bet Book betting terminal developed and manufactured within the Gauselmann Group.
Since the end of 2012, the company has held a sports betting and online casino licence valid in Schleswig-Holstein and accordingly has the right to offer sports betting services in Germany’s northernmost federal state, both in betting shops and at betting terminals as well as via online offerings. A modern online casino went live at www.merkur-spielcasino.de as early as the autumn of 2013, followed by the opening of the first two proprietary betting shops in 2014 under the Merkur XTiP brand.
Alongside Cashpoint and XTiP, since 2008 edict eGaming has also been part of the Group. The latter is also active in the New Media segment. The Hamburg-based company specialises in online gaming platforms as well as the development and technical operation of online casino solutions and system platforms for the gaming industry. edict eGaming sells its proprietary products exclusively in the business-to-business sector. Furthermore, Merkur Interactive’s national subsidiaries operate online casinos in Italy, the UK, Germany and Spain.
The market for online payments is growing steadily worldwide due to a growing number of consumers making mobile purchases on their laptop, tablet or smartphone. Experts are predicting a further sharp drop in the share of cash payments by 2020 as more and more consumers start to utilize cross-border methods of payment. With an increasing amount of e-commerce taking place across national borders, this trend is happening online as well as in the physical world. The Gauselmann Group will tap into the many possibilities offered by this future market through its European Payment Group subsidiary headquartered in Frankfurt am Main.
